Wood Work

We still had quite a bit of firewood left over from last year, so this time we only ordered 5 cords. It doesn't take long to put away, but it always seems daunting when there is a mountain of wood in your driveway. In prior year's, we've ordered twice as much, which fills the entire bed of a dump truck!

That does look like a daunting pile of wood. I do so want a wood stove for our house but it hasn't happened yet.

I had never heard of a cord before, we get it by the ton. I love the old saying that good fire wood warms you twice, once while you haul it and once while you burn it.

We still have some pieces in the carriage house that are probably 4 years old. They came from a neighbor who took down a tree. They are still whole logs that need to be split. Each year we just bury them a bit farther in the back of the carriage house and pretend that they aren't there. The funny thing is that they are so old and cracked, that it wouldn't take much to split them! Lazy, lazy, lazy...

I just recently heard that you could buy wood by the ton on a forum that I visited. I have never heard of anyone around here selling it that way, though.
